AUGUSTA — The Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine (HHRC) is pleased to congratulate HHRC Executive Director Shenna Bellows on her historic election as Maine’s first female Secretary of State.
“I have worked very closely with Shenna for over two years and have witnessed the increasing growth and strength of the HHRC on many levels,” said Nancy Spiegel, board president of the HHRC. “Her organizational and fiscal leadership skills have given us the ability to firmly weather this past year’s uncertainties. I am going to miss her but know she will be a strong and capable Secretary of State for Maine.”
Since joining the HHRC in 2018, Shenna Bellows presided over a period of growth and transition for the HHRC. During her tenure, the HHRC expanded its educational outreach statewide and, during the pandemic, oversaw the transition of the HHRC’s Holocaust and human rights educational programs online.
“We’re all very excited about Shenna’s new post as Maine’s Secretary of State,” HHRC Associate Director David Greenham said. “ The HHRC has thrived under Shenna’s leadership, especially in the areas of board development and grant writing. While we’re sorry to see her move on, it’s such an exciting opportunity for her and we wish her the best of everything.”
In the months ahead, the HHRC Board will work to ensure a smooth transition and conduct a search and selection process for a new executive director. Details on the process and how to apply will be provided on our website at www.hhrcmaine.org in the near future.
